The Sooner. The Safer.
The ISR Mission Statement
Not one more child drowns.
The ISR Process
One On One
All ISR lessons are taught one on one, student and instructor. This allows the instructor to focus fully on the individual needs of the student as all children are unique in their personalities and their cognitive learning abilities. ISR lessons are student directed lessons, tailored to meet the individual needs of the child throughout every lesson.
Ten Minutes a Day
Lessons are approximately ten minutes a day. ISR students work hard to achieve the survival float and the swim-float-swim sequence. Although they are given rests throughout the maximum ten minute lesson, their muscles can fatigue quickly while learning these new skills.
Five Days a Week for 4-6 Weeks
Consistency and repetition are the foundation to successful students. Lessons are taught five days per week Monday-Friday. For children ages 6-12 months, it will take approximately 3-4 weeks to teach the "roll back to float." For children over 12 months, to teach the swim-float-swim sequence, it will take approximately 4-6 weeks. All children learn at different speeds, but consistency is a major factor in determining the amount of weeks a student's lessons will last. The last week of lessons the child is taken through a series of survival skills with clothing. The last couple of days the parents are brought into the water for lessons on how to reinforce the skills the child has learned when they take them to a pool for water play.
